Fall FFA trap shooting is in full swing at GRGC Trap Range! All four County high schools are currently practicing at different times throughout the week. We've recently added an out of County FFA team also, Butler County will be practicing with us weekly bringing our total to five teams! GRGC will be hosting FFA Regional Competition on October 18th starting at 4:00. Teams from 9 surrounding Counties will be competing. Please come join us, and watch the competition.
September first marked the start of a new target year for ATA and SCTP shooters. Lead Slingers Warren County Ky has added ATA/AIM Handicap to their competition schedule this year. In fact, we're competing this Saturday at Nashville Gun Club in ATA/AIM. This addition will prepare our team to compete at the ATA Grand American in Illinois next year.
Speaking of the Grand American, a special congratulations goes out to Eli Wilson for running his first 100 straight at the Grand American 2018. Quite an accomplishment for a sub-junior, especially considering he ran them in DOUBLES! Other GRGC members/regulars attending the Grand this year included Dewayne Wilson, Steven Byrd, Gary Gaddis and Matthew Long and myself. GRGC will be throwing ATA Registered a couple days this fall and return to our monthly registered matches in the spring.
With the weather moderating, our Monday night crowds are increasing again. We're usually throwing between 50 and 65 rounds of targets each Monday. Please tell everyone interested that we're open to the public Monday evenings throwing ATA practice targets starting at 5:00. Target price increases and the recent imposing of Kentucky sales tax on services has required we raise our prices to $5.00 per round of 25 targets.
As always, please feel free to contact me via text at 270-535-5892 with any questions regarding youth shooting or trap shooting.
